The Community Safety Committee is a partnership between the police and people who care about their communities. The York Regional Police continues to enhance community partnerships to fulfil shared responsibilities.
The East Gwillimbury Community Safety Committee is dedicated to making a difference in our community. Through a cooperative effort the goal is to promote the safety, security and quality of life in our community.
Objectives
to maintain and enhance a pro-active partnership between the York Regional Police and the Town of East Gwillimbury
to work together, exchange information and develop relevant strategies to address shared concerns
to promote community relations, crime prevention, safety and security initiatives
to act as a liaison between the police and the community
Achievements
York Regional Police Community Police Centre: recommended to Council and supported the establishment of a Community Police Centre in the heart of Mount Albert. Staffed by volunteers, it is a source of information and programs for the community, as well as a base for officers to use during the course of their duties.
Holland Landing Community Centre: a safety audit was prepared for the Holland Landing Community Centre grounds. Subsequent modifications were made to the area with the co-operation of the Mayor and Council
Road Watch Program This is a community initiative that gives residents and visitors an opportunity to help keep our roads in East Gwillimbury safe by reporting aggressive driving. Letters will be mailed to the vehicles owners, calling attention to their driving errors. The goal is to make our local roads safe for everyone, your children, your neighbour, even yourself.
Show Kids You Care: The Town of East Gwillimbury is a proud partner with Show Kids You Care. A large number of community groups, foundations and organizations have committed to Show Kids You Care by providing children with opportunities such as literacy, physical activity and safety programs. Their symbol sends the message that we have your child’s best interests at heart.
